Congress leaders taken into preventive detention ahead of PM’s Kerala visit, “It’s not Yogi’s UP,” slams Congress

Ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kerala, 12 Congress leaders have been placed under preventive detention in Kochi on Monday.

The detention comes amid concerns of possible protests during the Prime Minister’s visit.

The detainees include KPCC secretary Thambi Subramaniam and DCC secretary Sreekumar.

“This is not Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh, it’s Kerala,” slamming Kerala government, said VD Satheehan, leader of Opposition.

More than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed across various parts o Kochi.

The PM is expected to arrive at Kochi’s Naval Airport on Monday afternoon for a two-day visit. From there, he will proceed to Sacred Heart College, Thevara, in a roadshow.

On Tuesday, PM Modi will reach Thiruvananthapuram and flag off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express and South Asia’s first Water Metro Service.
