

22-year-old Rizwan Ahmed dies on Saturday, three days after he was allegedly thrashed by U.P police for stepping out during lockdown. Rizwan, a daily wage worker from Tanda town in Ambedkar Nagar district, stepped out to buy domestic items when he was brutally assaulted by police in the name of defying lockdown.
The family treated Rizwan at home initially due to lockdown fear, and shifted him to hospital after his condition worsen. He died at District hospital at 2 am on Saturday. His father, Israil have filed a complaint.
When Rizwan reached the local post-office, he was stopped by a woman inspector and some constables, said Mr Israil, according to The Hindu.
Avanish Kumar Mishra, Addl. SP said the allegations against the police will be investigated. The post mortem report is yet to be released.
