Gaza: 63 direct Israel attacks on UNRWA facilities since Oct 7

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees reported that the total number of attacks on its facilities is now 220, including 63 direct hits.

As of January 6, Israeli attacks have killed a total of 146 UNRWA personnel.

This arrives at a time when approximately 1.4 million Palestinians are seeking shelter in 155 UNRWA facilities situated across the five provinces of the Gaza Strip, along with at least half a million civilians residing in nearby localities.

Amongst 22 UNRWA health centres, only 5 continue to operate, situated in the central and southern parts of Gaza, states the report released on January 8.

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza on 6 January, at least 22,835 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since 7 October.

About 70 per cent of those killed are reported to be women and children. Another 58,416 Palestinians have been reportedly injured.

Meanwhile, The International Court of Justice will this week begin hearing South Africa’s allegations against Israel that it is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
