Israeli police kill Palestinian doctor at Al-Aqsa entrance

Israeli police have shot and killed a 26-year-old Palestinian man at an entrance to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Saturday.

Israeli police have shot and killed a 26-year-old Palestinian man at an entrance to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Saturday.

The man killed on Saturday was Mohammad Khaled al-Osaibi from Houra, a Bedouin Arab village in southern Israel.

The incident took place at about midnight near the Chain Gate, an access point to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem.

Palestinian worshipers said that the man was shot by the police at the entrance to the site. They claimed that he was shot at least 10 times because he attempted to stop them from harassing a woman who was going to the holy compound.

Osaibi was a doctor who studied medicine recently in Romania.

“He is a polite, kind man from a family of doctors who was going to Al-Aqsa for spiritual reasons,” his cousin Fahad al-Osaibi said, Al Jazeera reported.

“If you want us to believe that he tried to attack police, then show us the security footage.”

Since the start of the year, Israeli forces have killed at least 92 Palestinians, according to the Ministry of Health.
