The man who shot at All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, claims to be a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and has said on Facebook that he joined the saffron party in 2019.

Pictures of Sachin with key BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Union Minister of State for Law, and Justice Satyapal Singh and MP Mahesh Sharma, are now going viral on the internet.

Sachin, a law student from Durai village in the Badalpur area of Greater Noida, was arrested, soon after the incident.

He had also shared a video of hate monger Yati Narsinghanand, who had made genocidal calls against Muslims.

In a Facebook post, Sachin also expressed solidarity with Ram Gopal Bhakt, who opened fire at the anti-CAA protestors in Delhi in 2020.

The other accused, Shubham, is a resident of Saharanpur.

Sachin was arrested at the spot and the police recovered a pistol from him. Shubham, who fled the spot after the incident, was later arrested by the police.

Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi was provided Z category security cover on Friday, a day after shots were fired at his car in Uttar Pradesh.

On Thursday, Owaisi had said that two people fired three to four rounds of bullets at his vehicle in Hapur city. No one was injured in the attack.

The attack took place while Owaisi was returning to New Delhi after campaigning in Meerut. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven phases, starting from February 10. The results will be out on March 10.

Owaisi has asked the Election Commission to order an independent inquiry and said it was the responsibility of the Uttar Pradesh and Central government to conduct an investigation.
