Austrian woman summoned by Kerala Police for tearing down pro-Palestinian mural

An Austrian Jewish tourist was summoned by Kerala Police after a video of her tearing down a pro-Palestinian mural in Fort Kochi in Ernakulam district went viral on social media.

The woman is currently at Fort Kochi Police Station. No cases have been registered so far. She was called in for questioning after a complaint was lodged. Muhammed Azeem KS is the complainant. He is the Kochi area secretary of the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO).

The pro-Palestine solidarity mural was installed by the SIO regional unit.

In the video, she can be seen arguing with locals who objected to her act.

Muhammed Saeed TK, president of SIO Kerala state unit, stated in a Facebook post that the women who tore the pro-Palestinian artwork are spreading Zionist hate and should be booked immediately.

Following hours of SIO activists’ protest at the police station, the police filed an FIR under section 153 of the IPC. Despite the complainant identifying the accused, the FIR was registered against unidentified accused.
